AT ST. GEORGE'S we believes that the body of Christ spans all time, all people, and all ages. We consider our teens to be integral members of our congregation and of the body of Christ. Our ministry with students, therefore, does not replace the worship of God, or separate our families during holy communion and fellowship. Rather, we are striving to disciple the younger members of our church community along side their families for the purpose of cultivating the fruit of the Spirit in them.
During the current season of COVID-19 and state mandates regarding gatherings of people, we will not be meeting in person outside of Sunday morning Holy Communion services. We are therefore trying out some new methods for discipleship and ministry. 1. We will be sending out weekly videos to our students and their families. We ask that students watch the videos with their families some time before Sunday evening and discuss the topic. We hope the videos will spark great conversations among family and friends. 2. Every Sunday evening the designated youth leaders and any students who would like to will gather together on Zoom at 7:30pm. We will use this time of fellowship to: - keep up with each other -to hear about everyones week -to pray with each other -to discuss the topic of the video -to prepare our heats and our minds for the coming week Discussions will include scripture and Anglican practice and theology relevant to the topic at hand. We will also encourage the development of habits and practices to establish a strong prayer life, an appreciation for the Holy Scriptures, and a personal faith in Jesus Christ. |
