Our congregation has a long history of scholarly engagement with Anglican doctrine, biblical study, and applied theology.
With a seminary level of presentation and content, our goal is to form and inform our members to be mature and articulate disciples for our Lord, whose instinctive thinking and reactions model a truly Christian life... the life God meant us to live.
All the various Sunday and weekday offerings have their own distinctive style and appeal. The teachers are fully trained with a long history of proven scholarship, spiritual wisdom, and pastoral sensitivity.
Sunday Education
The centerpiece of our educational ministry has long been our Sunday morning Adult Education Class. Held between the 9:00 and 11:00 services, and thus convenient for people from either service to attend, the content of these classes includes those things about which every Christian ought to be familiar: Holy Scripture, Church History, Christian Theology, Christian Ethics and Moral Theology, and application of faith to contemporary issues. Most recently, the Sunday Adult Education hour focuses on the content, context, and connections between the appointed lessons (Old Testament, Epistle, Psalm and Gospel) assigned for each week in the Lectionary Commentary Series. Generally, these classes are taught by David P. Parris, PhD -- Theologian and New Testament Scholar.
St. George's also offers a separate Men's Bible Study (offered on the second and fourth Saturday of each month), as well as a Women's Bible Study (offered each Tuesday morning).
