As you are aware, we are working to order our response to this ever developing Covid-19 situation…cooperating as new mandates are made, following the best advice available, to hopefully return us to life as we previously enjoyed it, with maybe some new insights to be even better citizens of God’s Kingdom.
We have adapted our worship in line with ’social distancing’ to avoid spreading this virus and to protect our many vulnerable parishioners. Our homebound members have all been contacted and will be brought communion as soon as extended care centers and mandates allow. The teenagers of the parish are calling to check on the welfare of parishioners, and a team of volunteers is standing by ready to respond to their needs.
The wardens and I are most concerned about the longer term financial implications for individuals and families, and are developing funds to make sure no one falls behind or goes without during this already difficult time. Please e-mail me if you find yourself in any sort of need…believe me, I understand these things. (firstname.lastname@example.org)
John Darling has agreed to collect gift cards that can be used for pickup meals or grocery stores…safely feeding those who might even need a break with kids at home, at the same time supporting local businesses that are facing a stunning stoppage of patronage in an already difficult sector of the economy. Please purchase and mail cards to: John Darling, 2928 Tenderfoot Hill Street, Colorado Springs, CO 80906.
In that same vein, we are scouting out local businesses that are offering safe food preparation service. I asked Stephen Boonzaaijer what his bakery was doing and they are open for business and will bring what you have ordered right out to your car…I ordered a loaf of bread (which is hard to find) and a strawberry/rhubarb pie that I plan to pick up this morning…yummy! You can either call in or order on line and they let you know when your order will be ready for pick up or will deliver to your door…call (719-264-0177 or email www.dutchpastry.com). Their sanitary practices assure a safe product and delivery.
Panino's downtown is offering similar pickup orders, and have specially designed kits with video instructions to teach your children how to make spaghetti. This is a wonderful family owned business and their food is delicious. (https://www.paninosdowntown.com).

I am communicating widely in the parish…and to date we have no one in the hospital and no reported cases of Covid-19. Please continue to pray for those who are sick, for those who minister to them, for those impacted by this time of distancing, especially our local businesses, and for protection for all those who work to provide for us, and even for our own health and safety.
My own prayer is that we can all take advantage of this rare nation wide slow down in which non-stop high expectations are relaxed and a time for reflection and rest is the resulting blessing we rarely, if ever, have experienced…it is a time to be still and know that God is with us, speaking to us as we are quiet enough to hear him.
The Lord bless you and keep you,
The Rev Donald Armstrong
